North Fingal School Completion Programme: Project Worker (Maternity Cover, Part Time)


PART-TIME PROJECT WORKER 
(MATERNITY COVER **APPLY ON THE WEBSITE** HOURS PER WEEK)

The SCHOOL COMPLETION PROGRAMME (SCP) is a targeted programme of
support for primary and post primary children and young people who
have been identified as potentially at risk of early school leaving.
It is a support under the Delivering Equality of Opportunity in
Schools (DEIS) Programme, funded by Tusla Education Support Services
(TESS). SCP aims to retain a young person to completion of the leaving
certificate, or suitable level of educational attainment which enables
them to transition into further education, training or employment.

North Fingal SCP is based in Balbriggan with a cluster of six DEIS
schools.

THE POSITION

The Project Worker will work alongside the Local Coordinator in
implementing the programme plan locally, as follows:

* To provide behavioral and emotional support to participants in a
small group or one-to-one basis, supporting solution-focused outcomes.
* To liaise with school personnel, external agencies and
families/guardians as required.
* To maintain written records of work with students and produce
written reports as required.
* To assist in the planning, development and evaluation of SCP.
* To attend meetings and participate in staff training where
relevant.
* Any other duties as required by the Local Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

To successful candidate will have:

QUALIFICATIONS

* A relevant third level qualification in youth or community work,
social care, education, or a related discipline
* A minimum of 1 years’ practical experience of working with
children and young people at risk within a supportive environment.
* Experience of facilitating evidence-based programmes for children
and young people.
* A good understanding of the Irish Education system and educational
disadvantage.
* Computer literacy essential.
* Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with
the vulnerable children and young people.
* Excellent communication, planning, organization, networking and
report writing skills.
* Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work on own initiative
but seek guidance as appropriate.
* Ability to manage competing demands in tight timescales.

OTHER

* Full, clean driving license and own transport.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE

Fixed term specific purpose contract from August to March **Apply on

SALARY

The salary as per Dublin Dun Laoghaire ETB Youth Work salary scale
(New entrant).

In accordance with the National Vetting Bureau (Children and
